A model for simulating surface multi-lead atrial activity signals during paroxysmal atrial fibrillation
Abstract
The present study introduces a model for simulating surface multi-lead atrial activity signals during paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF). Simulation model involves realistic spatiotemporal properties of atrial activity both during sinus rhythm and AF including such important aspects as time evolving changes in P wave morphology and ECG lead dependent f-wave properties. Since widely available AF databases contain mostly long (>> 30 s) AF episodes, the proposed simulation model could be especially useful for testing the performance of AF detectors developed for brief AF detection.
