Functional acuity contrast sensitivity test at the day time in the early forms of age-related macular degeneration with normal visual acuity
Abstract
The aim of this research is to assess scores of contrast sensitivity test at the day time in the early forms of age-related macular degeneration with normal visual acuity.
Methods. We examined patients with normal visual acuity, and with early mild age-related macular degeneration (I group), and early intermediate age-related macular degeneration (II group). Digital analysis methodology was used for retina drusen localisation and it’s diameter measurment. Functional cuity contrast sensitivity test was measured employing a Ginsburg Box, VSCR- CST-6500.
Results. Results after adjusting age and visual acuity 1.0 in I group patients were better compared to II group and p value was 0.0005. Results at the day time without glare and with glare were worse from 9.96% to 28.78%.
Conlusion. Contrast sensitivity was lower in II group than in I.
